Its all about Jesus...
Everything we do at Crosswind is about Jesus, and everyone has an opinion about Jesus. Maybe you think He’s a great teacher or a prophet. Maybe you think He didn’t exist at all. Whatever you believe, we can probably agree that Jesus changed things. But for you to understand all that Jesus did for you, you have to see why he was necessary.
God loves you and has a plan for you life.
John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
John 10:0b: “I (Jesus) have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
If God loves the whole world and has such a wonderful plan, then why are most people not experiencing the full and meaningful life He offers?
We have a sin problem.
Romans 3:23: “…all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”
Romans 6:23: “… the wages of sin is death…”
Sin is anything that we do that displeases God. The ultimate cost of our sin problem is death and an eternity apart from God. Just like a speeding ticket results in a fine that must be paid, your sin carries with it a penalty… a spiritual death and an eternity separated from God in Hell.
There is nothing you can do to fix your sin problem, but God loves you and has provided a way for you to experience forgiveness from your sin, to live an abundant, purpose filled life on earth, and to have everlasting life in heaven with Him.
Jesus handled your sin problem.
John 1:1,14: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the father, full of grace and truth.”
1 Peter 3:18: “For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.”
Romans 4:25: “He (Jesus) was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.
While there is nothing you can do to fix your sin problem, Jesus took on the punishment that you deserved and paid the penalty that you owed. In doing so, he conquered death and provided a way for you to have an amazing adventure with God. Because of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, you can experience new life for all eternity in the presence of God.
But I’m not good enough…
Romans 10:9: “if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Romans 10:13: “For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
You don't have to be perfect. Through His death on the cross, and then coming back from the dead, Jesus took all of your wrong and gave you all of His right. If you believe that and commit to following Him, your life will never be the same. It’s as simple as repenting of your sin, declaring you want to follow Jesus, and believing He is who He says He is.
Believing in Jesus is the first step on the greatest journey of your life. You haven’t finished the race—you’ve just gotten started. The best is yet to come!
If you've made the decision to follow Jesus, or if you still have questions, we’d love to talk with you about it. Stop by Crosswind this Sunday, call us at 731.468.3388, or email. We want to help you take your next steps and learn how to follow Jesus.
